Fish & Chips @Chapter 55

After visiting the nearby Tan Boon Liat Building, i can feel my stomach growling, that's is when i stop the exploring for awhile and head for early lunch. The Italian bistro i am talking here is Chapter 55. It is not too hard to locate from Outram Mrt Station, a 25 minutes walk from Outram Park Mrt, pass by the flyover and you will see a V-junction split, keep to the left and the first outlet you see from the row of shophouses is the main deal.

Yes, i had travelled one-and-a-half hour just for fish & chip haha but it was worth the trip and worth the burn of my pockets. Although it is well-known for their gelato choices and taste, their main course also took quite a big part of the good reviews in burpple sg. One of their main course that caught my eye was fish & Chip. Most of my initial trips to western cuisine restaurant, if there is fish & chips or seafood pasta on the menu, i will order either or to determine whether i will make future visits to the same outlet again. So i ordered:

-Fish & Chips ($21.80)
-Their homemade iced lemon tea named Chapter 55 ($7)

Personally, i like my tartar sauce to have a heavier onion taste and crunchy pickles and for their tartar sauce is well balanced between the creamy mayonise and the strong flavour of onion but i'm not complaining for the sauce not being pro-onion because all the ingredients are very fresh and well-mixed, crunchy pickles too and goes very well with their thick fries and fish. Fries are not over-fried, it has mixture of MOS Burger type of 'fleshy' fries and the thin crispy crust of MacDonald fries. The fried batter coating the fish is not too thick, although initially i suspect it is 80% fried batter due to its huge size but instead, it's around 35% fried batter; 55% fish meat; and 10% fresh air in between😂 Their fried batter has a nice sizeable layer of coating that makes you enjoy chunking on the crispy skin and the fresh tender fish meat inside.

The veggies are trim short which is easier to pickup and eat and besides the salad sauce, it has a topping of a certain vinegar or wine which i forgot to ask what it is but goes really well and unique👍👍👍

As mentioned earlier, Chapter 55 is also well-knowned for its Gelato (will definitely try when i make the trip there again). It has a very versatile menu set so regardless you are ordering main meal, side dish, drinks or desserts, you will be garanteed satisfied!
