Song Fa Bak Kut Teh - New Bridge Road Outlet

Song Fa Bak Kut Teh has always been one of the top list that i want post a review and encourage all bak kut teh lovers and those curious foodseekers to try.

I went to try it alone during phase 2 of the Covid period, during non-peak hours around 5pm, i easily gotten a seat in their restaurant and start my crave for bak kut teh. Their soup base is in light and transparent in color, and don't be fooled by the small portion of soup, it's fantastic and i really like the amount of pepper they put in to give the right boost to the soup's overall flavour, the staff will prompt if you want to top up the soup when they see your bowl like empty soon so don't worry.

For me, when i start my bak kut teh meal, i will slurp on the soup first and then pour a small portion into the rice and taste a scoop of the rice that i had pour the soup on. It feel so great that even their plain rice can have a talking point, fine grain and easily chewed, its a 10/10 for a plain rice.

Here comes the pork ribs who is taking the center stage for this post! It's like the lead actor/actress for the entire show😂 Meat is tender and easy to chew off from the rib bone so you don't need to involve your hand. Many times when i try pork rib, the results is almost either meat too dry and hard or it's just bones.....So Song Fa's pork rib make me forget about those unpleasant pork rib memories. Don't forget to dip the meat with the dark soy sauce chilli, perfect match! The chilli padi came in without the dark soy sauce at first, they will give you the sauce in packet instead so you add any amount of sauce onto the chilli as you desire.

Finally, the reason why i added xiao bai cai is because i wanted to add a side dish that can 'cool' me down because bak kut teh, in general, feels somewhat heaty to me. I really like the light soy sauce combined with the fried spring onion oil taste in the xiao bai cai, so simple and so nice🤤

This is what i ordered in summary and also the prices:

➡️ 1 x Pork Ribs Soup ($7.80)
➡️ 1 x Xiao Bai Cai ($4.20)
➡️ 1 x Plain Rice ($1.00)

Overall, my verdict on this North bridge outlet bak kut teh is 8/10. Maybe its just the slightly higher pricing for me and during hot scorching summer days i will try to avoid heaty food so it's not the all-seasons-will-eat that kind but i must say the customer service is top notch as the staff are very friendly and patient.
